At the beginning of the third and closing business day of July 20, 2017, the Central Institute of Aviation Motors (CIAM, a subsidiary of the National Research Center “Zhukovsky Institute”) took part in a meeting with the American company AMETEK, a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices. The Russian party was represented by Deputy Manager of the CIAM National Research Center Yevgeny Pavlyukov, the foreign party – by Sales Manager Europe Fabrice David and Sales Manager EMEA Sara Bustillo. During the meeting, the parties’ representatives emphasized their mutual interest in collaboration and discussed potential cooperation areas.

A business meeting with the Techpribor company was also held on the same day. On CIAM’s part, it was attended by Director General Mikhail Gordin and Head of Department Viktor Golovanov; on Techpribor’s part – by Director General Kamo Abramyan and First Deputy Director General, Chief Designer Yury Novikov. The CIAM and Techpribor representatives discussed plans for coopearation in the field of aircraft engine diagnostic systems development.

Deputy head of a CIAM department Viktor Zakharchenko delivered a speech at the “Promising Fields of Development of Rotary-Wing Aircraft with Unconventional Design” conference held at the MAKS Congress Center. In his speech, he presented an analysis of the current state and development prospects of conventional and hybrid propulsion systems based on turboshaft engines of various-purpose rotorcraft, including those featuring non-conventional designs. Viktor Zakharchenko also submitted a projection of fully electrical rotorcraft propulsion systems.

His speech was met with avid interest from the audience. A discussion began on which should be designed first, the aircraft or the engine, considering the long engine development cycle, and how to achieve balance in such a complex technological issue.

July 21 is the first day the air show is open to the public. We would like to welcome everyone to visit the CIAM’s booth in D2 pavilion from 10:00 to 18:00.
