CIAM Director General Mikhail Gordin congratulated students of the lyceum #1547 on the occasion of the Day of Knowledge
On 1 September, Director General of the Central Institute of the Aviation Motors (CIAM, a subsidiary of the National Research Center ‘Zhukovsky Institute’) Mikhail Gordin gave an open lesson at the lyceum #1547 in Moscow and congratulated its teachers and students on the occasion of the Day of Knowledge.
Greeting the future graduates, he said: «Education determines our entire life. Engineering education is a fundamental training essential to everyone who wants to construct or to do something important for his country».
Mikhail Gordin told the lyceum students about his experience during studying at his alma mater –the Bauman Moscow State Technical University (BMSTU). He explained why he chose that education facility: «When I was a 9th grade student, I chose the BMSTU because of its being the country’s best institution for higher engineering education. While a scientist’s aim is to gain knowledge, an engineer seeks to materialize an idea, a project by creating a specific object. I identify myself more with the engineering approach».
The CIAM Director General wished the pupils strength and inspiration for successful learning. He also wished them to decide on the future profession – one of the crucial choices in their lives: «The most important is to believe in yourself, to know your target and to persist in going forward towards it».
