CIAM to present Health and Usage Monitoring Systems for helicopters and composite engine parts at HeliRussia-2017

On 25-27 May 2017, the P.I. Baranov Central Institute of Aviation Motors (CIAM, part of the Zhukovsky Institute National Research Center) will take part in the 10th International Exhibition HeliRussia-2017.

The exhibition is organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, with the participation of the Helicopter Industry Association.

At its stand, CIAM will put on a wide-ranging exposition for event visitors. First and foremost, it will feature airborne diagnostic systems for helicopter gearboxes and transmissions – important tools to help ensure reliability and safety of aviation equipment and improve helicopter performance. Among the exhibits there will be ground-airborne monitoring systems adaptable for light, medium and heavy helicopters; an integrated multichannel system for the distributed accumulation and processing of diagnostic information for all helicopter models; a family of airborne broadband mono-component and tri-component vibration inverters with built-in charge-amplifier connection for the control and diagnostics of aviation engines and gearboxes; an airborne electronic unit for measuring the transmission error of aircraft gearboxes and engines; a high-precision torquemeter.

Over the course of the last 87 years, one of the Institute’s main focuses has been providing R&D and technical support for the design of propulsion systems. The stand will showcase units and parts of advanced turbo-shaft engines made of composite materials. A special place in the exposition will be devoted to the Institute’s latest works in the creation of cutting-edge reciprocating aircraft engines and the engineering refinement of aviation gear trains.

During the HeliRussia-2017 conference program, V. Golovanov, Head of the Aviation Propulsion Department at CIAM’s “Dynamics and Strength of Aero-Engines” Division, will deliver a report on the topic “Performance results of MI-8 MTV-1 helicopters equipped with Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS) and CIAM operating results in the development of these systems.”

We invite industry specialists and mass media to visit the CIAM stand on 25-27 May from 10:00 to 17:00 (Crocus Expo International Exhibition Center, Pavilion 1, Hall 4, Stand 2B1).
